Humidifier Benefits With a Cpap Machine
Combining a humidifier with a Cpap machine is beneficial for a variety of reasons. Humidification in general makes the Cpap a more comfortable therapy for most sleep disorder patients.

The Humidifier
Side Effects
-
Many patients who use Cpap therapy complain of sinus dryness, inflammation and soreness; dry mouth and throat; and, in severe cases, sinusitis or nose bleeds. This generally happens at a high CPAP titration level (15 liters or above).
-
Humidifier Levels
-
The humidifier doesn't need to be on full blast to be effective. If you experience any of the symptoms mentioned above, turn your humidifier to "1" on the dial. If this is not effective for you, the humidifier will go up to a level 5.
The Nose
-
Humidification is beneficial in keeping your nose hydrated during your Cpap therapy. It can help decrease the possibility of a nose bleed or sinusitis.
The Mouth
-
It will help alleviate a sore or dry throat. It will also help to keep your throat hydrated during therapy so you don't end up getting sick.
Additional Benefits
-
Humidification will make the experience of using a Cpap machine more pleasant, which will make it more likely that patients will stick with the therapy.
