Post-Scabies Symptoms
Scabies are caused by mites that burrow into the skin and cause itchiness, rash and sores. But once you have cured the mites, you have to deal with the post-treatment symptoms.
-
Itchiness
-
After your scabies treatment, there are still dead mites under your skin. These mites will take a while to decompose (approximately 4 weeks). A suggestion would be just to grin and bear it, applying moisturizer to the skin to help alleviate the discomfort.
Pesticide Reaction
-
If you decided to treat your mites using poisonous pesticides on the mite contact, dermatitis may result.
-
Skin Infection
-
A common occurrence after treating scabies with these pesticides is skin infection. It can be an often painful or itchy experience. Ask your doctor for his suggestion for treatment.
Reemurgence of Mounds
-
Sometimes post-scabies will mimic scabies exactly. Do not, however, re-treat the scabies unless your doctor has found a live mite in a burrow.
Re-Infection
-
If you have had scabies and have bumps that do not dissipate after 3 or 4 days, you may be re-infested. Have your doctor check out the new bumps.
