Health Benefits of Glucomannan

Made from the Konjac plant, an herb grown in Asia, Glucomannan has recently been found to have profound benefits for maintaining a healthy body. Typically ground into a powder form, it can be taken in pill form or mixed with a liquid. It should be noted that as an alternative medicine, the FDA does not regulate Glucomannan.

  1. Weight Loss

    • Being a soluble fiber, Glucomannan absorbs a great deal of water in the stomach, which is used to trick the body into feeling as if it is full. This helps curb appetite and regulates the digestive system.

    Lowers Blood Pressure

    • In an independent study, a group of men were given Glucomannan and the average tested systolic blood pressure was lowered by 2.5 percent. Used in conjunction with other blood pressure medications, this can be a literal lifesaver.

    Constipation Ease

    • Fecal transit time is slowed with continued use of Glucomannan. This helps in the digestive process and eases constipation pressure.

    Helps with Type 2 Diabetes

    • Fasting blood glucose levels are stabilized with prolonged use. In some independent studies, the blood glucose levels actually dropped.

    Anti-Aging

    • Cell aging is slowed when Glucomannan is added to a daily diet. Also, brain deterioration is deterred when this is taken.

    Lowers LDL Cholesterol

    • Glucomannan lowers LDL cholesterol which is known as the "bad" kind of cholesterol. The "good" cholesterol, HDL, remains the same.
