Adipex, also known as phentermine, has been a popular weight loss drug since its introduction in the early 1970s. It is effective as an appetite suppressor, but it is important to take the side effects into consideration before taking Adipex for weight loss.

    Behavioral Side Effects

  1. Adipex can cause impaired thinking, restlessness and racing thoughts. Patients with a history of psychiatric disorders should talk to their doctor before taking Adipex.
  2. Nervous System Side Effects

  3. Adipex can cause tremors, shaking and impairment of fine motor skills. Adipex should not be taken when operating machinery until you know how well you body can tolerate the drug.
  4. Circulatory Side Effects

  5. Adipex can cause a fast heart rate as well as an increase in blood pressure. Those with pre-existing hypertension should not use Adipex.
  6. General Side Effects

  7. General side effects of Adipex include dizziness, dry mouth and headache.
  8. Digestive Side Effects

  9. Adipex can cause diarrhea and constipation, as well as indigestion.
  10. Warnings

  11. When combines with fenfluramine, Adipex can cause pulmonary hypertension, a rare, but fatal condition.
