What Are the Treatments for Staphylococcus Epidermis?

A part of the body's natural bacteria and commonly found on the skin, Staphylococcus epidermis is often identified in laboratory tests because its ability to contaminate equipment easily. It can be quite dangerous for people with either weak immune systems or with catheters and other medical devices implanted in the skin.

Nafcillin

Nafcillin, given in IV form, is the preferred method of therapy for Staphylococcus epidermis infections.

Vancomycin

Vancomycin can be given in IV to patients who are allergic to penicillin, or have an infection with a nafcillin-resistant strain of staphylococcus epidermis.

Cefazolin

Clindamycin
