- The first sign of any flu, cold or other illness is a fever. If you feel warm to the touch or a thermometer reads over 100 degrees, you're coming down with something and that could very well be the flu.

- Because runny or stuffy noses are a common symptom of the common cold and allergies as well as the flu, it is difficult to determine which illness you have from just a runny or stuffy nose.
- Headaches can occur with this type of influenza and can be little more than a mild throbbing, or they can be full migraines.
