What Kind of Bait Do I Use in Mouse Traps?

Vermin, such as mice, are unwanted pests we all can live without. Mice breed and produce many young in a short period of time. As well as leaving droppings everywhere, mice carry disease and bacteria that can make you physically ill. Ridding your house of vermin is easy, using a bait that mice can't resist. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Peanut Butter

    • Place 1/2 tsp. peanut butter on the mouse trap of choice. Mice love peanut butter and will flock to your trap.

    Bread

    • Cut a chunk of stale bread--a favorite when it comes to mice. Just a 1/2-inch square piece may be set in the trap and placed behind your cook stove, refrigerator and anywhere that mice have been seen or wherever you have seen their droppings.

    Cheese

    • Use a small piece of aged or cheddar cheese in your mouse trap to attract mice and kill them, one mouse at a time.

    Peanuts

    • Try using a large Spanish peanut to attract mice to your trap. Mice love nuts and will keep coming back for more.

    Dried Fruit

    • Place some dried fruit such as apricots, plums, peaches or pineapple in your mouse trap. Mice are attracted to your trap by the smell of the fruit.
