Doxycycline Sexual Side Effects
Doxycycline is an antibiotic used for the treatment of bacterial infections including urinary tract infections, periodontis, acne, blemishes, some respiratory trace infections, gonorrhea, syphilis and chlamydia. You should not take doxycycline if you are pregnant, have asthma or are allergic to sulfates. There are some side effects that may occur while taking this medication, including some related to sexual activity.

Rectal or Genital Sores

Doxycycline may cause soreness or swelling in the genital or rectal areas. This is one of the less serious possible side effects of the medication.
Vaginal Discharge or Itching

Vaginal discharge or itching may occur while taking Doxycycline as possible side effects of the medication. These may be bothersome but are not serious.

Birth Control

While taking this medication, birth control pills may not be as effective. This is a common concern when taking any type of antibiotics. Other methods of birth control are advised.
Vaginal Yeast Infection

Use of Doxycycline, as with many antibiotics, can result in an increase of fungal infections. Therefore, taking this medication for a long period of time may result in a vaginal yeast (fungal) infection.
