What Is an Airsoft BB Gun?

Airsoft BB guns are pretend guns that shoot plastic BBs. Many people enjoy playing games with Airsoft guns that are very similar to paint balling.

History

Airsoft or Softair has been around since the 1970s. Then guns were outlawed in Japan, but people still expressed an interest in them. In order to meet the demand, companies produced spring-powered guns that looked very realistic.

Function

These pretend guns use either a spring or compressed air to fire a soft plastic projectile or BB. It functions in much the same way as a real gun as it utilizes a trigger to release the projectile down the barrel.

Features

Many modern Airsoft BB guns are made to look like specific models of real guns. However, American law requires a 6 mm bright orange tip to be present on all pretend guns imported to the U.S. or transported therein.

It is always suggested to use proper eye and face protection when using an Airsoft BB gun. This is especially important if you are participating in an Airsoft game, which is similar to a mock battle.
