What Is Thrush?
Thrush is a yeast infection resulting from an imbalance of microorganisms normally present in our body. Thrush is treatable. However it can spread to other parts of the body and, in some cases, may become a chronic problem.

Types

There are three types of thrush: oral, skin and systemic.
Identification

Oral thrush affects the inside of the mouth and appears as creamy white, slightly raised lesions in your mouth. On skin it is evident as areas that are tender, raised and red. As to the systemic occurrence of thrush, symptoms are not as obvious and generally result from an episode of oral thrush.

Effects

Oral thrush has the potential to spread to the esophagus, lungs and liver (becoming systemic). On the skin, thrush manifests as diaper rash in babies and vaginal yeast infections in women.
Considerations

Thrush can appear as a result of certain medications, compromised immune systems and stress. Since thrush has the potential to spread to other parts of your body it is important to seek prompt medical treatment/advice from your health care provider.
Prevention/Solution

Thrush is usually treated with anti-fungal drugs.
