About LED Grow Lights

LED lights are the lights of the future. LED lights use less electricity and last for many years, and they also produce little or no heat. Grow lights made from LED lights are becoming increasingly available and produce results similar to other grow lighting solutions.

History

The LED lamp was invented in 1962 by Nick Holonyak. The LED light has made it possible to put lights into small spaces and allows us to change the channel from across the room.

Grow Mixture

Plants are green because they absorb both blue and red lights. Therefore, plants require both blue and red LED lights to grow.

Red LEDs

The most effective type of Red LED light is one that falls on or around 660nm. This will produce the best results for plant growth as it is comparable to High Pressure Sodium lamps and 2700K Florescent lights.

Blue LEDs

The most effective type of Blue or cool white LED light is one that falls on or around 880nm. This produces the best results for plant growth and is comparable to Metal Halide lights or a 6500K fluorescent light.

LED lights consume less energy and produce little or no heat, which makes it perfect for growing plants and saving money on energy.
