Tea Treatments for Psoriasis

Tea tree oil comes from an Australian plant of the same name, which native people used in the treatment of skin disorders. People with psoriasis use the product as a way to relieve and reduce the symptoms of their condition. Tea tree oil is available in several different products and is used as an oil in baths.

  1. Tea Tree Lotion

    • Lotions made with tea tree oil are a natural remedy for psoriasis. Lotions have a thin and watery consistency, which works well for areas of the body with an abundance of hair because its smoothness slides through the hair.

    Tea Tree Cream

    • Tea tree creams work well for smoother parts of the body such as the face and stomach. They have a thicker consistency that absorbs quickly into the body.

    Foot Baths

    • People with psoriasis can treat the condition naturally using a foot bath. They simply place 5 to 10 drops of tea tree oil directly into a bowl of hot water and soak their feet for 30 minutes every night.

    Body Baths

    • People with psoriasis all over their body can benefit from a body bath. Placing 1/2 to 1 cup of tea tree oil directly into a bathtub full of warm water can reduce the appearance of the psoriasis.

    Tea Tree Shampoo

    • Psoriasis exists on the scalp or head of some sufferers. Tea tree shampoos use the oil from the plant and can reduce the symptoms of psoriasis.
