Decorative Accessories for the Home

Adding pictures and pillows will always spruce up a room, and these decorative accessories serve as quick fixes when you have to get the house ready for guests. But there are other decorative accessories out there, and it's always fun to use your imagination and have something in your home that is totally unique to your personality. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Lamps

    • Lamps can make an impression when you use your imagination and do-it-yourself skills. Use a few old books and stack them for the base of your lamp. Drill a hole through each book and then follow the instructions on a lamp kit for the rest of the construction.

    Area Rugs

    • Rugs can be found in every price range. Even if you decide to change rugs with the seasons, you can do it on a modest budget. A rectangular rug will also work in place of a headboard for your bed--attach some loops and hang from a curtain rod.

    Door Stops

    • Cast iron door stops come in designs that will fit any décor. You can also make your own by covering a brick with padding and fabric.

    Containers

    • An old set of stacked suitcases makes a wonderful end table, and also adds storage space. Flat top trucks make good coffee tables, and you can add a simple tray on top.

    Room Dividers

    • Room dividers are a great way to hide a part of the room that always seems out of control (it could be that computer in the corner or a kid's play area).
