Popular Career Tests

Career tests are an excellent tool to help you assess your career possibilities. They can help you discover your interests and aptitudes. You should visit a career counselor to administer the tests and explain the results.

  1. Strong Interest Inventory

    • The Strong Interest Inventory (SII) measures your interest by asking about activities that you enjoy. It will discuss your interests as they relate to six categories, which are: social, investigative, conventional, artistic, enterprising and realistic.

    Self Directed Search

    • The Self Directed Search (SDS) is similar to the Strong Interest Inventory, but shorter. It also demonstrates how well you fit into the above six categories.

    Myers Briggs Type Indicator

    • The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) measures your personality and assigns a personality type based on tendencies toward introvert or extrovert, sensing or intuitive, thinking or feeling, and judging or perceiving.

    Career Ability Placement Survey

    • The Career Ability Placement Survey (CAPS) is a timed test that measures your abilities to answer questions in eight areas. This test tells you what you are naturally good at doing.

    Career Tests on the Internet

    • There are a number of tests on the internet that are based on the SII, SDS, MBTI and CAPS tests. Many of these are free, but some require you to register to view the results.
