Different Types of Hair Brushes

The main purpose of a hair brush is to pull oil away from the scalp and through to the ends of the hair. Hair brushes are also used to achieve hairstyles like in a salon. But there are many varieties of hair brushes which meet the specific needs of an individual or hair type.

Paddle Hair Brush

Often times the bristles of this brush are made from boar hair. This prevents your hair from getting frizzy. If you have long hair, it's wonderful for getting tangles out.

Radial Brush

A radial brush has bristles that go around the entire brush. This achieves curls and volume when using a blow dryer, as the air streams through the vent holes.

Half-Radial Brush

A half-radial brush is a radial brush that's been cut in half. It's used to create a flip at the end of the hair.

Cushion Brush

A cushion brush is used to straighten hair. It is best suited for medium length hair.

Military Brush

These brushes have no handles, and are held in the palm of your hand. Mostly used in men's hairstyling, they aid in a slicked back hairstyle.

Sculpting Brushes

Just as its name implies, this brush is used to create volume and sculpt the hair (mainly to short hairstyles).
