Chemical Allergy Symptoms

Chemical allergies occur when people are exposed to everyday chemicals. When someone is allergic, they can easily have a reaction to the chemicals, which can make them ill. Knowing the symptoms of a chemical allergy can help your doctor diagnose the problem and properly treat it.

  1. Fatigue

    • Fatigue is another term for being tired more often than you normally should be. It can be signs of other illnesses and disease, but is also a symptom of a chemical allergy.

    Dizziness or Faintness

    • When someone is exposed to chemicals they are allergic to, they often feel faint or dizzy. It's important to sit down to avoid further injury and contact a doctor if needed.

    Irregular or Rapid Heartbeat

    • Rapid heartbeat is when you feel your heart beat extremely quickly, and irregular heartbeat means you can feel your heart skip a few beats. This can be a sign of a chemical allergic reaction and a doctor should be consulted.

    Skin Rash

    • Most of the time a skin rash caused by a chemical reaction is light pink in color. The rash may may feel warm to the touch and often itches.

    Nausea

    • Nausea is a common feeling when someone is exposed to a chemical they are allergic to. It can range from being slightly sick to your stomach to actually vomiting.

    Breathing Problems

    • Breathing problems can be caused by swelling of the throat if the chemical is inhaled. If someone is exposed to a chemical that they are allergic to, they may experience shortness of breath or asthma-type symptoms.
