Dry Cough Treatment for Children

While medication for dry cough is not approved for children under two, there are a variety of treatments available to help soothe throat irritation. Older children can take a cough suppressant to block the coughing reflex.

    • One homeopathic remedy that may be beneficial for dry cough is a spoonful of honey mixed with lemon. Liquids help flush out toxins, so try chicken soup, hot tea and gargling with warm salted water. Children older than four can suck on hard candy or cough drops.
