Facts About Rose Bushes

Roses are easy to care for and their fragrance is easily identified. Hybrid roses are extremely popular all over the world and their petals are often used for perfume, baths and as a facial cleanser. The hybrid tea rose is the most popular type of rose because it is grows from late spring to early frost. The tea rose also makes excellent floral arrangements.

    History

  1. Around 1200 BC the first five types of roses were cultivated. Albas, Damaskas and Scots roses were among the varieties being cultivated.
  2. Types

  3. There are three subsets of the rose varieties. The hybrid is the most popular. Floribunda and grandifolora are the other two varieties.
  4. Growing

  5. Roses are easy to grow if planted in the right spot. They require the right amount of sunlight (at least 6 hours a day) and the soil should be treated with bone meal before planting.
  6. Cutting

  7. The best time to cut roses is late afternoon or early morning before the sun comes up. Keep roses in a cool place, with fresh water.
  8. Miniatures

  9. Specialized miniature roses were hybrid to be much smaller in size than regular rose bushes. These roses are typically grown in rose gardens, and home hobbyists.
  10. Transplanting

  11. Rose bushes are difficult to transplant. They often don't survive the shock period. You should always transplant early morning or late evening.
