Manic Depressive Symptoms

Manic depression, now called bipolar disorder, is a chronic mental illness that involves severe changes in mood. People who are manic depressive suffer from periods of extremely elevated mood, called periods of mania or being manic, followed by a period where their mood is normalized. People who are manic depressive are usually prescribed medications to help stabilize mood and undergo psychiatric treatment to further help treat the illness.

    Pessimism

  1. Always being pessimistic or feeling hopeless can be a sign of manic depression.
  2. Mood

  3. Constantly feeling irritable, angry or sad is a symptom of being manic depressive. Restlessness, difficulty concentrating, memory trouble and crying spells are also symptoms.
  4. Trouble Sleeping

  5. Insomnia, oversleeping and persistent waking in the early morning are sleep problems that could indicate manic depression.
  6. Loss of Interest

  7. People who lose interest in their hobbies and pastimes may be exhibiting a sign of manic depression.
  8. Appetite

  9. A decreased appetite coupled with weight loss or an increased appetite paired with weight gain can be signs of manic depression.
