Mythology

Mythology played a large part in Greek beliefs at the time, and Aphrodite was considered the goddess of love. Mythology indicates she believed that sparrows were associated with love, so Greeks used them in food for aphrodisiac purposes.

Seafood such as puffer fish and caviar are believed to be aphrodisiacs. Produce such as bananas and asparagus are also believed to have the ability to serve as aphrodisiacs. Champagne is an alcohol that can serve as an aphrodisiac.
