With the ncreasing amount of accessories available for firearms today, a universal option to attach those accessories becomes necessary. The Weaver Mount, also called the Weaver Rail, is one such option.

  1. Types

    • Top: Pistol mount. Bottom: Rifle Mount

      The Weaver Rail mounts to firearms in various ways. There are mounts designed for both handguns and rifles to incorporate many types of accessories.

    Size

    • The size and length of a Weaver Rail vary depending on the weapon it is intended to be mounted to. It can be as short as 1 inch on pistols to as long as 12 inches for rifles.

    Features

    • Example: Verticle Foregrip mounted on Weaver Rail

      The Weaver Rail allows one to mount items such as standard magnification scopes, holographic sights, red dot sights, flashlights, laser sights, bipods and vertical foregrips.

    Types

    • Example of RIS on a M-4 rifle

      Weaver Rails can be built in to the frame of a pistol, attached as a single unit for a scope or sight or installed in a multi-rail configuration commonly called a RIS (Rail Integration System)

    Special Note

    • There are rails known as Picatinny Rails that are very similar to Weaver Rails. The only difference being the distance between "teeth" on the rail. Because of this, certain accessories designed for Picatinny Rails may not fit properly on Weaver Rails. Always check product specs to see if they will fit on Weaver Rails.
