Anxiety can present itself in a multitude of ways, and many people do not even realize that the symptoms they are experiencing are due to anxiety. Many symptoms of anxiety can mimic other conditions, such as heart attack, flu or depression.

    Heart Palpitations

  1. Heart palpitations can be felt in the chest as a fluttering feeling. Many people sense that their heart has skipped or doubled a beat.
  2. Sweating

  3. Anxiety can cause excessive sweating, which can lead to a clammy feeling with chills. This can mimic symptoms of the flu.
  4. Shortness of Breath

  5. Often, a person experiencing anxiety will have shortness of breath, or the feeling that they cannot catch their breath or are breathing too fast.
  6. Diarrhea

  7. Diarrhea can be caused by anxiety, which can come on suddenly and strongly. Many people with anxiety fear that they may have food poisoning.
  8. Abdominal Pain

  9. Pain can often be felt by people with anxiety in and around the sternum and abdomen.
