Diving Board Requirements
Diving boards come in a variety of sizes and materials. They are used in recreational and competitive situations. Not all pools can accommodate a diving board, and should be examined to make sure they meet the minimum specifications. There are a few basic requirements to consider when purchasing one.

There are two main types of diving boards: fixed boards and spring-based boards.

The best diving boards are fashioned out of wood, and covered with a fiberglass coating to make them waterproof, with a no-slip tread added on top.

Residential Dimensions

Residential diving boards range in length from between six to 12 feet; the width is fairly standardized at 18 inches.
Commercial Dimensions

Commercial diving boards have a length that reaches close to 16 feet, with a relatively standardized width of 20 inches.
Swimming Pool Dimensions

The pool must be a minimum of 7 1/2 feet deep and 28 feet long. If installing a spring-based diving board, the pool should be deeper, to accommodate the added propulsion provided by the spring.
