Gold is found on every continent, and it can be mined on all of them except Antarctica. Gold, however, can be feasibly mined in almost all continents.

  1. Australia

    • Gold mining in Australia mainly takes place in Western Australia in Leonora and Kalgoorlie. There is also some mining in other states and the Northern Territory.

    Asia

    • Gold is mined in China, mainly in the eastern provinces of Fujian, Henan, Liaoning and Shandong and the western provinces of Yunann and Guizhou.

    Europe

    • In Europe a majority of gold is mined in Spain, Finland, Sweden, Greece and Turkey.

    North America and South America

    • In the U.S., gold is mined in Arizona, Alaska, California, South Dakota, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada (the top producer of American gold), New Mexico and Utah.

      Gold mining in Canada occurs mostly in Ontario, though there are mines across the country.

      In South America gold deposits are mined in Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Guyana, Honduras Chile and Colombia.

    Africa

    • In Africa gold is mainly mined in South Africa.
