What Is a Class A RV?
Class A RVs represent the biggest and best RVs that the RV world has to offer. These RVs tend to cost a lot of money, and are only for people who have lots of extra cash to spare or who intend on living in them full time and can afford it. A class A RV is a behemoth on the road, but also affords a very nice way to live while traveling.

Size
-
Class A RVs are the largest RV class, being 26 feet and longer (up to about 40 feet). They can be eight to nine feet wide and 12 feet high.
Structure
-
Class A RVs are sometimes called motorhomes because they are pretty much homes on the road. They are usually built on a custom or a commercial truck chassis, and weigh from 15,000 to 30,000 lbs.
-
Cost
-
Class A RVs cost at least $100,000 and can go all the way up to several million dollars, depending on the extras. These RVs usually have a very low fuel efficiency (mpg) and can be costly in their electrical and water hook up needs.
Slide Outs
-
There are usually at least one or two slide outs in a class A RV. A slide out is a feature that automatically extends side walls on an RV for wider living quarters (while still keeping them within the limits of the road width).
Luxury
-
Class A RVs have extra storage compartments, full kitchens, HVAC systems, self-contained toilets and a full array of appliances. These RVs can also sleep up to eight comfortably, and some even have king-size beds.
