Symptoms Associated With Pleurisy
Pleurisy is a lung condition that occurs with the pleura (chest cavity lining) becomes severely inflamed. Pleurisy is generally caused by some other underlying condition such as the flu, pneumonia, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and tuberculosis. Pluerisy may also result from a pulmonary embolism.

Individuals with pleurisy will feel a sharp pain in the chest area when inhaling, coughing, and sneezing.
Difficulty Breathing

Pleurisy may cause an individual to be short of breath.

Cough

Those with pleurisy may have a dry cough.
Fever

Pleurisy may be accompanied by fever and chills in some cases.
Treatment

Pleurisy is generally treated by treating the underlying condition. Medications may be used to alleviate pain and to suppress coughing.
