Norwalk Flu Symptoms

Norwalk flu, sometimes called the Norwalk virus or norovirus, is a form of what is commonly called the stomach flu, or viral gastroenteritis. It is highly contagious and is spread by touching contaminated liquids or foods, or through person-to-person contact. It generally runs its course in a few days. While you have Norwalk flu, it is important to stay hydrated by drinking water or a rehydration solution such as Pedialyte or Gatorade.

  1. Diarrhea

    • Watery diarrhea is a common symptom of the Norwalk flu. Bloody diarrhea is typically a symptom of a more serious illness, so be sure to see a doctor if you experience bloody diarrhea.

    Nausea

    • An upset stomach is a symptom commonly associated with the Norwalk flu.

    Vomiting

    • Many people who have Norwalk flu or the stomach flu experience bouts of vomiting.

    Fever

    • A low-grade fever and chills are frequent symptoms of the Norwalk flu.

    Aches

    • Muscle aches and headaches are commonly experienced by people with Norwalk flu or other stomach viruses.
