Suzanne Somers used to be in the hit TV show "Three's Company." Over the years, she has created various weight loss plans. The Somersize Diet is a way of eating that she created. In all of her plans, she is very passionate about being as natural and chemical free as possible.

  1. Significance

    • The Somersize Diet is not to be used as a fast weight loss plan. It is designed in a way that you can make it a permanent lifestyle.

    Features

    • The diet has two phases. In the first phase, high glycemic carbs are restricted. In the second phase, they are allowed in small amounts. Some examples are white flour and white sugar products.

    Food Groups

    • Foods get categorized into four different groups. They are fruits, vegetables, fats/protein and carbohydrates.

    Combining

    • There are specific rules involved with the combining of foods in their groups. Fruit should be eaten alone on an empty stomach, carbs can be combined with vegetables, fats/protein can be combined with vegetables. Meals with different combinations should be eaten 3 hours apart.

    Meals

    • At least three small, frequent meals are consumed a day with no specific guidelines on the size of the portions. Alcohol and caffeine are unauthorized in phase 1, which lasts for a month.

    Examples

    • A couple meal examples are grilled salmon with a green salad and strawberries with fat-free yogurt.
