Tile Cleaning Equipment

Ceramic tile is a good surface to have in kitchens and bathrooms where the need to clean floors well is higher than in other areas of a home. Ceramic tile is also relatively easy to clean, and requires very little cleaning equipment.

Broom

A soft-bristled broom is needed to sweep ceramic tile floors. Try to avoid using a harsh brush which can scratch tile.

Cleaning Solution

A teaspoon of dishwashing liquid added to a solution of 1 cup vinegar to 1 cup warm water is all that is needed to wash ceramic tile. Alternatively, commercial tile cleaners can also be used.

Mop

Use a mop or cloth dipped into a bucket of cleaning solution to wash dirt and grime from your ceramic tile surface.

Avoid Abrasives

Do not use abrasive cleaners when cleaning ceramic tile. These cleaners can scratch the surface.

Toothbrush and Bleach

Use a toothbrush to clean dirty grout lines. For stubborn stains, use a bit of oxygen bleach on the toothbrush. Do not use chlorine bleach as it may remove color, yellow white grout or weaken the grout.
