What Foods Contain Vitamin F?

Vitamin F recently made the list of vitamins. Before then, vitamin F was known as fatty acids. The classes of fatty acids include linoleic acid and alpha-linoleic acid. There are two categories within the classes of fatty acids---omega-3 and omega-6. A vitamin F deficiency shows up as eczema, behavioral disorder, hair loss or immune system dysfunction, and may cause kidney, liver or heart damage.

  1. Fish

    • One of the best ways to get essential fatty acids is through fish oil. This includes shark liver oil and krill oil. Krill oil doesn't have the same fishy taste as other oils.

    Vegetable Oil

    • All types of vegetable oil contain essential fatty acids, vitamin F.

    Nuts

    • Pecans, walnuts and peanuts contain essential fatty acids.

    Wheat Germ & Avocado

    • Wheat germ is an excellent source of vitamin F, as is avocado. Both supply additional nutrients for the body.

    Seeds

    • Pumpkin seeds, safflower, grape seed, flaxseed and sunflower seeds provide a good source of vitamin F.

    Herbs

    • Borage, evening primrose and perilla provide the necessary vitamin F. Chia seeds are also a good source of vitamin F.
