Define Spring Water

Spring water comes from a natural, underground source, typically from a rocky place. Because spring water comes in contact with rocks, it contains minerals that are healthy for your body, therefore making it excellent drinking water. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Significance

    • Spring water is significant because it is extracted from the ground and is naturally filtered. No other treatment is performed on the water in effort to keep it in its natural form and is full of minerals.

    Types

    • Spring water is bottled and distributed from many sources. Evian, Arrowhead, Deer Park and Ozarka are bottled water manufacturers which bottle and distribute spring water.

    Benefits

    • Tap water may contain levels of harmful bacteria or even chemicals that are unsafe for human consumption. Natural spring water is beneficial because it is free of any contaminants.

    Misconceptions

    • It is a common misconception to believe that natural spring water is different than mineral water. Spring water is in fact, mineral water.

    Warning

    • Consumers should be aware that well water or artisian water is not the same as natural spring water. Neither have the special, natural properties that are found in spring water.
