Dark circles and puffy eyes can have many causes. Often, making healthy lifestyle changes is enough to reduce or prevent puffy eyes and dark circles. There are also many skin creams available that target the eye area as well as many home remedies that you can try.

    Genetic Traits

  1. If you are genetically prone to fairer skin, your blood vessels are more visible underneath the skin. This causes a dark circle appearance under your eyes.
  2. Allergies

  3. Allergies can make you sneeze frequently. When this happens, blood vessels under the eyes can burst, causing a darker and puffy appearance. This is called vascular inflammation.
  4. Smoking

  5. Smoking is a major cause of dark circles and puffy eyes. It strips the body of essential vitamins necessary for skin repair such as vitamin C. It also breaks down collagen and inhibits blood flow, damaging the skin.
  6. Sleep

  7. Getting adequate sleep is crucial to avoiding dark circles and puffy eyes. Bodies need sleep to repair themselves, and when sleep is inadequate, a telltale sign is less than healthy-looking eyes.
  8. Diet

  9. Not drinking enough water or eating enough nutrient-dense foods such as fruits and vegetables will contribute to dark circles and puffy eyes. Hydration keeps the skin around the eyes healthy, and vitamins and proteins are essential for skin health.
