What Is Flash Software?
Flash software began in the early 1990s as a drawing application called SmartSketch that was used by the PenPoint operating system. The original idea was to create a program that would make drawing computer graphics as intuitive as drawing a picture on paper. The software eventually evolved to add frame-by-frame animation abilities and was re-christened FutureSplash Animator. Macromedia, the software giant, acquired the software in 1996 and contracted the name to Flash. Macromedia was subsequently acquired by Adobe.
