What Is Tiger Balm Used for?

Tiger balm was created, many years ago, by a Chinese herbalist, according to Alternativehealth.com. It got its name because the herbalist's son took a tiger along with him when he was peddling his wares. In the East, a tiger is the symbol of virility and strength.

  1. Analgesic

    • When an individual applies Tiger Balm to the skin, it works as an analgesic and provides relief from muscular and joint aches and pains and arthritic woes in general.

    Multi-purposes

    • Tiger Balm has many purposes. It can be used to relieve rheumatism, tired feet, back and neck pain, sprains and muscular pain brought on by stress and tension. It can also be used during massages.

    Essential Oils

    • Tiger balm is made out of essential oils, including mint and clove oil, camphor, menthol and cajuput oil.

    Warmth and Increased Circulation

    • The camphor and the essential oils in Tiger Balm dilate blood vessels and bring blood closer to the skin's surface, which results in increased warmth and circulation. It is believed that warming the skin creates a distraction from the pain that an individual is experiencing. In addition, the increase in blood flow ramps up the healing process.

    All Natural Product

    • Tiger Balm is an all natural product and doesn't contain any animal ingredients. After it warms you, a pleasant cooling sensation will follow.
