DVI (Digital Visual Interface) cables support both analog and digital data transfer of video signals. Digital video resolutions range from 1920 x 1200 and higher when using DVI cables.
HDMI Cables

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) cables support only digital video and audio signals up to resolutions of 1920 x 1080. HDMI are known for their high performance levels and ease of setup.
DFP Cables

DFP (Digital Flat Panel) cables were a competitor for the DVI format, but never gained popularity due to a low adoption rate by manufacturers and a significantly lower resolution cap of 1280 x 1024.
