What Are Remedies for Chronic Sinus Infections?

Chronic sinus infections cause the sinus cavities to become swollen and infected. It becomes difficult to breathe because of the mucus buildup. Some of the symptoms that are associated with chronic sinus infections includes pressure in the sinus cavities, stuffiness, headaches, facial pain and a yellow or green discharge from the nose. Chronic sinus infections usually last for at least 8-12 weeks or more.

Thyme

The use of thyme for medicinal purposes has been practiced for many years. Thyme has antiseptic properties and is commonly used as a remedy for chronic sinus infections. Thyme can be boiled and drinked as a warm beverage.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is an effective remedy for chronic sinus infections. When inhaled in the nostrils, it helps to loosen the mucus, causing easy drainage of mucus from the sinus cavities.

Nasal Rinse

Rinsing the sinus cavities each day with a nasal rinse helps to thin the mucus. Nasal rinse can be bought at a pharmacy, over the counter or can be made from a solution of table salt.

Garlic

Eating two cloves of garlic each day can be used as an antibiotic to treat chronic sinus infections. The garlic can also be crushed and placed in a bowl of steaming water and inhaled.

Eucalyptus oil

Inhaling the vapors of the Eucalyptus oil is known to clear the sinuses and reduce inflammation.
