Firestone tires and the Indy 500 have had a long relationship dating from the first race to the present. Over the past 100 years, as Firestone grew and the Indy 500 gained in popularity, the two histories have been intertwined into one winning tradition.

  1. Firestone Tires First Indy 500 Win

    • Firestone began its record-breaking number of wins at the Indy 500 back in 1911 when Ray Harroun won the first Indy 500 race.

    • The first two-time winner of the Indy 500 was Tommy Milton in 1923. He drove on Firestone tires. In 1948, Marui Rose won the Indy 500--Firestone's 25th consecutive win at the brick yard.
