Rockabilly hairstyles all begin with the way your hair is cut. For women, layers, curls and hair that is approximately 4 inches long are the standard requirements for styling a rockabilly hairdo. Even with the same cut, different styles can be maintained. Men's rockabilly haircuts are typically long on top and very short on the sides and in the back.

    History

  1. Rockabilly hairstyles are a tribute to the time when rock and roll was formed and became popular. It generally refers to hairstyles that were trendy from the late 1930s to the early 1950s.
  2. Types

  3. A popular rockabilly hairstyle for women is the Betty Page, with short bangs and long, wavy hair. For men, the pompadour and greased-back styles were fashionable.
  4. Identification

  5. Rockabilly hairstyles have a signature look for men and women that include height in the front and combed-back sides (pinned down on women). The part and the curls, whether they're big or tight, are also distinguishing features for women's hairdos.
  6. Considerations

  7. To create a women's rockabilly hairstyle, if the hair isn't naturally curly it's easiest to set it when it's wet in large rollers. Once it's dry and the rollers removed, back combing the inside of the front curls and pinning them will result in that signature rockabilly look with volume.
  8. Famous Ties

  9. Elvis, Johnny Cash and Frank Sinatra are the most notable males that men's rockabilly hairstyles were fashioned after.
