Types of Food in Spain

Spanish food is typically uncomplicated and earthy. Much of it is made of locally grown products, though some outside influences have played their part in certain dishes. Different regions in Spain have their own different specialty dishes that are distinguishable to this day. Food is often served as tapas, or in small appetizer portions, in Spain.   1. Ingredients

    • There are two main ingredients used in the majority of dishes from Spain. They are garlic and olive oil.

    Ham

    • There are two types of cured hams in Spain and both of the popular. Serrano ham is eaten worldwide and Iberico ham is made from the regional Iberian pig.

    Spanish Omelet

    • The Spanish omelet is the most widely served food in Spain. They are made of potatoes and eggs, along with various vegetables and meats, depending on the specific recipe.

    Seafood

    • There are many seafood dishes in Spain that were developed in the various seaside town and cities. Shellfish is particularly popular with many dishes consisting of lobster, crabs, mussels and other similar seafood.

    Cheese

    • Cheese is an important Spanish food that is served tapas style in wine bars and restaurants. There are 13 different cheeses that have originated in Spain, each with varying flavors and textures.
