Types of Basement Waterproofing

A dry basement increases the usable space in your home. Damp floors and leaky walls create an environment that is conducive to dangerous molds and can damage furnishings and your home's structural integrity. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Gutters

    • Move water away from your house with gutters. Be sure they are clog free. Use extensions if necessary.

    Fix Cracks

    • Water can infiltrate your basement through small cracks. Repair small cracks in concrete as soon as they appear.

    Waterproof Paints

    • Waterproofing paints and sealants will keep water out of your basement. Be sure to use a paint appropriate to your wall material.

    French Drain

    • Water can be diverted away from the outside of your foundation with a French Drain. It is laid along your foundation and diverts water away from your basement walls.

    Tanking

    • Tanking is done during construction. A membrane is bonded to the outside of your basement walls.

    Cavity Drain

    • Also done during construction, this is a honeycomb material installed on walls and floors. Floors should slope slightly toward a sump pump.
