Computer networks are everywhere today. They began as a military application during the 1950s and moved on to American universities in the 1960s. Major corporations became dependent upon them in the 1970s. This led to the birth of the Internet and the widespread use of computers throughout major industries leading up to the present day.

    Simple Network

  1. A network consists of at least two computers or devices connected together by cabling or a wireless access point.
  2. LAN

  3. A Local Area Network is a group of computers connected together within a business location or office.
  4. WAN

  5. A Wide Area Network is groups of computers connected between several distant locations.
  6. Hub

  7. Hubs allow three or more computers to be connected economically together in one location.
  8. Router

  9. Routers allow many computers in one location to connect to the Internet.
