As with any medicine, possible side effects may occur when taking Ambien. These should be reported immediately to your doctor. Some people may feel lightheaded or experience dry mouth, diarrhea or problems with coordination.

The following symptoms were reported in fewer than one percent of participants during clinical studies: high blood pressure, impotence, depression, sleepwalking and amnesia.

Some unusual side effects reported include eye twitching, overwhelming cravings for sweets and nicotine, blackouts, back pain, promiscuity and abuse.
Considerations

It is impossible to tell beforehand if a person will experience any or none of the side effects reported. Let your doctor know if you seem "off" or different while taking Ambien.
