Xanax may be marketed as alprazolam, Niravan, or Xanax. It is classified as a benzodiazepines medication. Benzodiazepines works by affecting brain chemicals that may cause symptoms of anxiety. Xanax is prescribed to treat panic and anxiety disorders. The following side effects may occur while taking Xanax.

    Tiredness

  1. Xanax often causes individuals to feel drowsy or dizzy.
  2. Concentration Difficulties

  3. Xanax may interfere with concentration and lead to forgetfulness.
  4. Insomnia

  5. Xanax may interfere with normal sleep patterns.
  6. Weakness

  7. Xanax may cause muscle weakness, balance problems and speech slurring.
  8. Stomach Problems

  9. Xanax may cause constipation, upset stomach or vomiting.
  10. Serious Side Effects

  11. Some individuals who take Xanax may experience serious side effects. If these effects are experienced, a doctor should be consulted immediately. Serious side effects include willingness to participate in risky behavior, self-injurious or suicidal thoughts, fainting, tremors and seizures.
