Pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas, an organ that is vital to the digestion of food. It can begin suddenly and your dog will show symptoms such as abdominal pain and distention, loss of appetite, depression, dehydration, vomiting and diarrhea. You should consult your veterinarian for any combination of these symptoms, as they could indicate serious illness.

      • If your dog is exhibiting symptoms that could be pancreatitis or some other serious illness, seek veterinary care as soon as possible for diagnosis and treatment. Left untreated, severe pancreatitis can be fatal.
