How it Works
-
Milky spore is a product applied to lawns and garden soil. The product is swallowed by Japanese beetles during their natural feeding. The spores germinate inside the grubs, causing a milky spores disease. Once the spores are spread to grubs blood, it will cause it to die. This process can take days or months, and is the most effective way to reduce adult beetle populations.
Effects
-
By removing Japanese beetles from a garden, you can also get rid of varmints such as moles. Moles feed on grubs, and you can get rid of garden moles by removing their source of food.
Application Process
-
Apply 1 level measure tsp. of milky spore powder on top of grass in spots every 4 feet in rows 4 feet apart (see Resources). Water lightly to soak spores into soil. Areas between application will be inoculated naturally.
Lasting Effects
-
Milky spore has been known to protect lawns and gardens fifteen years or longer with one application.
Safety
-
Milky spore removes a grub infestation and is not harmful to insects, birds, bees, pets or man. It is also completely harmless to food crops. Milky spores is not chemical pesticide.
Other Garden Treatments
-
Fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or other lawn chemicals are completely safe to use with milky spores and will not be affected by this product.
