Types of Jobs for 13 and 14 year old Teens

Although 13- and 14-year-olds are too young to officially apply for jobs, there are many ways they can make money. They will need to market themselves by talking to neighbors and family members about the services they provide and may want to distribute business cards they have made by hand or on the computer.

Babysitting

Babysitting is an excellent option for a teenager who likes children. She can also be a mother's helper, giving the mom a hand with outings or watching the kids in the home while the mother completes housework.

Yard Work

A teenager can offer to do yard work for neighbors, including mowing lawns, pulling weeds, digging holes to plant new shrubs, raking leaves or watering plants.

Snow Shoveling

The winter is a great time for a teenager to launch a snow shoveling business. Elderly neighbors are likely to hire help with this job, and a teen has the strength to complete it.

Pet Care

Pet care and vacation sitting are great jobs for a teenager. Responsibilities may include walking, feeding and cleaning up after dogs, cats, birds, fish or pet rodents.

Odd Jobs

A teenager can hire himself out to do odd jobs for people, including giving a hand with housework, cleaning out a garage, collecting people's mail while they are on vacation or running errands that can be completed without a car.
