About Acne Products for Pregnancy
Pregnancy can be a joyous event, but the extra hormones that enter the system can wreak havoc on the skin. Acne--such as pustules, whiteheads, and blackheads--can be difficult to treat during pregnancy since many of the commercial acne treatments contain strong chemicals. Luckily, there are many natural acne treatments that can effectively treat acne during pregnancy.

Sodium Bicarbonate

Sodium bicarbonate, also known as baking soda, kills acne-causing bacteria and exfoliates the skin naturally. Massage a mixture of baking soda and water onto the skin once a day. Rinse it thoroughly after application.
Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is an anti-microbal oil that is a natural alternative to benzoyl peroxide. The National Library of Medicine states that tea tree oil is just as effective as benzoyl peroxide in multiple studies (See Resources). Dab a little tea tree oil onto the acne blemishes with a cotton swab twice a day.

Calamine Lotion

Calamine lotion is a mineral lotion used to treat chicken pox and poison ivy. It also dries out cystic acne lesions naturally. Soak a cotton swab with calamine lotion and dab it onto the blemishes. Let it dry, and leave it on overnight.
Facial Steam

Steam the face by pouring near boiling water into a bowl, then lower your freshly washed face no nearer than 12 inches over it. Cover your head with a towel, and steam your face for 5 to 10 minutes.
Urine Compress

Urine is a completely sterile substance that has been used for a millenia to treat skin conditions (See Resources). Soak cotton pads in fresh urine, and apply to the areas of your face effected by acne. Leave them on for at least 5 minutes.
