Models that we see on the runway often appear to be thin and tall, but it is not necessarily a requirement. Models are supposed to represent the public, and as we are not all tall or thin, we need a cross-section of body types as models.
Money
-
There's a myth that models make loads of money. Some of the "supermodels" make a lot of money, but for the majority of models, money is not something they have a lot of. The cost of living and attending castings is quite high compared to the erratic work schedule and pay scale. Most models will earn $200 for a job, and they are not guaranteed work every day.

Perks

There's often a belief that models get free clothes, but sadly, this is not necessairly true. While some of the supermodels get to keep what they wear, most models do not, as it has been borrowed from designers and must be returned.

Contrary to popular belief, models do, in fact, eat. But as their body is their business, most models will try to eat healthily. Certainly, there might be cases where extreme dieting measures are taken, but not to the degree by which the industry has been pegged.
