Glue is important, but can be annoying if it gets onto your hands. Unfortunately, if you remove glue incorrectly, it leaves skin raw and painful. Next time it happens, remember these household remedies for removing adhesive glue from skin.

    Warm Soapy Water

  1. Although it is simple, it is effective. Warm soapy water is the solution for many things, even removing adhesive glue from the skin. Wash gently, slowly, firmly and use a soft washcloth as you do so.
  2. Acetone (Nail Polish Remover)

  3. The strong chemicals in nail polish remover (acetone) function as an excellent solvent for the strong bonds in adhesive glue. Gently massage the acetone liquid into the glue, then wipe off with warm soapy water.
  4. Rubbing Alcohol

  5. Rubbing alcohol has some of the same qualities as nail polish remover, making it an effective option for removing glue from skin. Use a cotton swab or washcloth to rub the rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) into your skin.
  6. WD-40

  7. Use it only as a last resort. If you do not have any of the other options available, you can try spraying WD-40 onto the area. Allow the lubricant to soak into the glue, then wash the area with water.
  8. Special Soap

  9. If you have access to mechanic's soap like GoJo, this can be used as another option. These soaps contain degreasing agents that can help cut down on the adhesives in the glue. Small, abrasive particles in the soap also help break down the glue's bond.
