About Jitterbug Cell Phones

Cell phones have become increasingly complex, from email devices to full fledged multimedia players, cell phones today can be confusing for less technologically advanced users. For these users, there's Jitterbug, a company that offers easy-to-use, no thrills cell phones that simply make phone calls and do very little else.

  1. Basic Cell Phone

    • Basic Jitterbug cell phones contain the standard dialing keypad found on most home phones. These keys include the zero through 9 keys and the # and * options. The devices also feature an up and down arrow pad and the "Send" and "End" keys.

    Emergency Only Cell Phones

    • The Jitterbug emergency phones are even more simple than the company's basic cell phones. The emergency only device features three calling keys labeled: "Operator," "Tow" and "911." Those options are then backed up by "Send" and "End" call keys and up and down arrow options.

    Features

    • Basic Jitterbug cell phones are capable of sending and receiving phone calls and text messages and offer a programmable phonebook option for easy dialing. Emergency only phones offer the ability to program three numbers with the provider.

    Misconceptions

    • While commercials for Jitterbug have traditionally targeted senior citizens, the company is actually available to all users looking for a no-frills cellular service that is easy to use with basic functionality and simple plan choices.

    Available Calling Plans

    • Jitterbug plans range from 60 minutes of monthly call time for $20 to SOS emergency plans that start at $10 per month. Check the Jitterbug website for more information regarding each plan type and cost (see Resources).
